About us
Who we are
Gen INDIA is the ideal partner to support companies in their internationalization process in India, with tools, skills and experience gained over time.
Why Gen INDIA
Your partner in India
GEN INDIA is the ideal partner to develop your business
It provides your company with the essential tools to build a stable, lasting presence for exporting, selling or producing in India. Exporting is certainly the first step in internationalization, but it is not the only way to enter a new market effectively. The next step can be foreign direct investment, which may mean a light presence (points of sale, branches, distribution centres) or a heavy one, such as acquiring local companies or even greenfield investments that create real production centres, with capital, know-how, technology and personnel transferred from Italy.
GEN INDIA supports entrepreneurs throughout the entire development process
In a highly competitive arena, it speeds up market penetration by pointing out the best ways to establish a presence in India. Entering a complex market like India can be difficult without the right support from a network of professionals and local contacts: knowing the target audience well, identifying the best distribution or production system, and defining the strategies that cut time and improve the cost/benefit ratio, always with an eye on local laws and geopolitical dynamics.
Gen INDIA offers a full range of services
For companies that want to open a sales branch, set up a production site or simply sell in India. Thanks to the know-how built up over time and the existing local structures, shared with other client companies, entry costs are reduced. Client companies can also host their branch at Gen INDIA’s offices, avoiding investment in premises and staff.
Our network
Highly trained, experienced professionals
For its network in Italy and India, Gen INDIA has selected a team of highly trained and experienced professionals.
- Our partners come from diverse backgrounds: entrepreneurs with proven success, managers from consulting or service companies with international experience, and established professionals in their fields. They all understand how entrepreneurs make decisions and the challenges they face in defining the strategies and investments needed to develop a new market.
- Our consultants have clearly defined specializations and cover every need: market analysis, administration, tax, finance, legal, marketing, logistics and sales.

Continuity
Having staff in both Italy and India guarantees continuity.
- In Italy our staff remain the main point of contact for client company managers, sharing solutions and development strategies for India; ad hoc studies such as market analyses, feasibility plans and business plans are prepared in Italy.
- In India our staff support client companies on the ground: local staff ensure a direct presence and provide customer service, administrative services and logistics.
The market
Why choose India?
India’s economy is one of the largest in the world. It is expected to become the third largest economy by 2030 and one of the preferred investment destinations of the next decade.
01
A path of potential growth
Creating an investor-friendly environment and reviving industry and employment are among the priorities of the Modi government, which enjoys unprecedented political stability and is expected to push strongly for liberalization, following the economic model that made Gujarat, where Modi was Chief Minister, the richest state in India.
02
Market size and growing demand
While demand is stagnating in most long-industrialized economies, Indian consumption keeps growing, driven by the dynamism of an “aspiring middle class” that expands every year and whose average income is steadily rising (per capita disposable income doubled between 2005 and 2011). This trend benefits from a demographic dividend, with almost half the population (603 million people) under the age of 25.
03
Availability and low cost of labour
The availability of labour at competitive costs remains one of the main reasons for investing in India’s manufacturing sector. With a literacy rate of 74%, it is also possible to find skilled, English-speaking workers, the main reason India has developed a thriving service outsourcing industry.
04
Availability of skilled resources
The availability of skilled resources and engineers makes India a prime destination for R&D centres. India has a strong education system, with more than 20,000 universities and training institutes and a focus on scientific subjects. Every year 2 million engineers graduate in India, one of the reasons many multinationals choose to open R&D centres there (Chrysler-Fiat, Microsoft, GE, Nokia).
05
Availability of raw materials
India is rich in natural resources, especially coal, iron and bauxite. It is the world’s second-largest cement producer, third-largest steel producer and largest producer of direct-reduced iron (DRI), as well as one of the leading leather producers. Rare earth reserves are estimated at 3.1 million tonnes, about 3% of global reserves. India also has access to cotton and a wide variety of fabrics, making it a prime outsourcing destination for apparel companies.
Gen Export
The Gen Export network
Gen INDIA is part of a large, fast-growing network that supports companies’ internationalization in the world’s most important markets. Operating methods are similar in every country, with staff permanently present in each territory; the services are also similar, while taking into account the specific features of each market.
